I'm sorry for the loss of Jack. I hope all the family are coping as well as possible.
I had known Jack & Dorothy since I was a little kid. My grandparents (Meyer & Annette Schwartz)were their friends and neighbor. I had the priviledge of hanging around their house, swimming in their pool and have the most wonderful memory of Jack, in particular. I was probably around 8 years-old and in his study was the most prized treasure to a kid...a gum ball machine. He told me I could have as many as...

We were so proud to have met Mr.Goldsmith twice with the Maxwell's at his home for a breif time. What a fine gentleman.

Larry and Melvin, I am very sorry about the loss of your Father, such a great man. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.

I will never forgot my little trips to the Goldsmiths Tea Room, ah, how great
those memories can be. Goldsmiths was an institution in Memphis, not just a department store, it was an old friend, and Mr. Goldsmith deserved a lot of credit for keeping that store "the first in customer service" in Memphis.
Sometimes you just can forget about things, some things are burned in your memories forever, and going to Goldsmiths was always a treasured prize.

I was the paperboy for Goldsmith's Department Store downtown. Mrs. Rogers, the nurse for Goldsmith's, took up a collection for me to have an eye operation. She was unable to get all the money and Mr. Jack Goldsmith basically paid for the rest.

He was one of the kindest persons I ever met. He went out of his way to help people. He helped me understand what life was all about, which is about helping people.

That was one reason I got into law enforcement.
