Jack Kemp

I met Mr. Kemp at a garden party in 1978 in Buffalo N. Y. I was from Ohio and just 19 yrs. old. I was attending this affair with my uncle who supported Mr. Kemp. I had the pleasure of meeting him. He was a true polite gentleman. I admired him from that day and never forgot that amazing pillar of knowledge and strength. I was so sorry to hear of his passing. He had made a lasting impression on me as he did on so many others in his life.

Rest Jack, until you hear at dawn,
the low, clear reveille of God.

This is my final farewell to a great man who I am proud to have had the opportunity to read about and hear him espouse on matters of human decency. I was struck by the death of Jack Kemp, who was a true advocate for the poor and disenfranchised. In January 2009, when the news broke about his battle with cancer; I decided to Google his name and in doing so I was able to read a letter on his website that he had written to his grandchildren regarding the election of Barack Obama as President of...

A man of principle and honor, who was willing express his beliefs. Everytime he gave a speech he spoke from the heart. The passing of Jack Kemp has once again created a void in our society of leadership. It was a great honor to vote for him for Vice-President. He will be greatly missed. The debate in our country on the role of government and taxes in the economy will not be the same with his abscence. May he rest in peace. My prayers go out to the Kemp family.

Jack Kemp was man of honor and a politician with his heart in the right place. He was never afraid to offer an endearing hug to even those he just met, just ask Queen Elizabeth, to her surprise she was a recipient of one of his great big Jack Kemp bear hugs. He always had a word of encouragement to those around him, and by those who knew him, he is already missed. God Bless!
