Not sure what to say?

Living 800 miles from Grand Rapids the last few years contributes to "getting the word" problems when events such as Jack's passing happen.

He was a true "one of a kind" talent and I was lucky enough before moving East to have spent considerable time working with him both making music and providing recording services for his many endeavors over the years including those with Mary.

Not one to suffer fools gladly, in the early gigging days Jack would carry his piano tuning...

I was there at Fountain Street Church, with the love of my life, for the first performance of Magic in the Heart of the Universe. It touched my soul, and transformed my dedication to music, and frankly, to the appreciation for Joy.

I am very proud to have known and worked with Jack, despite the fact that it was always by phone or email -- we never met eyeball-to-eyeball. His music for trumpet ensemble has become popular among enthusiasts of the genre. His music, along with memories sustained and lessons learned by family, friends, acquaintances, and especially students, are the pillars of immortality.

Rest in peace, Jack. Thank you for your gift of music that will live on forever in so many hearts. You and precious Mary will be dearly remembered and sadly missed.

I'm thankful for your life and the beautiful legacy of creativity and music that is living on through your grandchildren!

A wonderfully descriptive obituary! "Winter Comes, Winter Goes" is permanently etched in my memory banks. I'll miss him! Bruce Bode

Jack you were one of a kind in so many ways. Your wit and creativity will be echoed in the laughter of all who knew you. Your talent lives on in every stroke of your musical pen. Have fun with mom playing in the Big Band.

What wonderful gifts Jack gave us over the years. I miss him, and am glad his music plays on.
Loe,
Marti
