Rest Jack, until you hear at dawn,
the low, clear reveille of God.
Thank you for your service to this nation.

Dear Mitchell family-I was saddened to hear of coach Mitchells passing. We moved to Fayetteville in 1955 and Dad(Ab Bidwell)joined the UofA coaching staff.Coach Mitchells son Jackie and I soon became good friends.Of course I was only 5 years old at the time, and it was for such a short time but I still have nice memories. Please know that you are in my prayers and that the Lord would comfort your hearts.Respectfully, Michael Bidwell

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Coach Jack Mitchell. It was a wonderful experience being a player under Jack at Wichita University and a close friend. Our condolences to Peg and Judd. Love, Neil and Pat Sikes

I will always think of Jack as my second dad. When he moved into my neighborhood in Wellington he brought with him his horses. Being the horse crazy teenage girl I was soon hanging over the fence admiring them. To make a long story short that was just the beginning of a long friendship. He always had a smile on his face and a cigar in his mouth. My thought and prayers go out to Jud and his family. It's tough to have buried your mother, brother, and now you father.

It was a pleasure and honor to have played for Jack the two years he coached at Wichita, and be a part of the MV Conference Championship. We have lost a very good person. Connie Hoffmans, Henderson, NV

My thoughts go out to Jack Mitchell's family. I had the honor of meeting him when he was inducted into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame in 2006. He was a very nice man, and a true joy to be around. He was funny and endearing, and certainly kept the crowd entertained during his speech. I think he was one of those people where "to know him is to love him" was a definite.
