Not sure what to say?

Jack gave me my first start for the Gazette while attending Western and mentioned me as one of the great names in Western Michigan Track and Field. I cried like a baby after reading that article. I miss you Jack Moss.

I have great memories of Jack and Jan when they lived next to my mother, Gladys Stratton. So sorry for your loss.

A Kalamazoo legend is gone, but won't be forgotten. I would consider him Kalamazoo's "Informal Royalty". What a hoot to be around, and yes..."This 'n' That" was probably the best column ever run in the Gazette. Everybody read it! This town was never the same after he moved away.

Some 40 plus years ago our 8 year old son Don was in Bronson hospital recovering from burns He was very sad.
Jack came to visit one of his sons in the same room. He brought his smile and tried to talk with Don but with no success. So Jack began making popping noises with his finger and mouth. Don laughed and became animated.
Jack helped our boy heal. Thanks again jack. I have told that story many times for many years. Folks say, yep- just like Jack!

Jack and Lou Mcguire were freinds from high school days and sports competitors. Jack from State High, Lou from St Augustine. One fine day Jack asked Lou why the Kalmazoo irish community didn't sponsor a St Patrick day parade. Lou shrugged.
Then Jack told Lou that he would help him do it. He DID and so the parade began with the help of a few more friends. Thanks Jack. You spent your life doing good.

My 8 year old son Don was in Bronson Hospital for treatment of severe burns. One of Jack's boys was sharing the room. During a visit,Jack repeatedly tried to converse with Don who was very sad - with no success.( Jack was always smiling). Jack put his finger in his mouth, puffed his cheek and made popping sounds as he pulled the finger out.
Don laughed and kept laughing. Jack helped our son heal! Thanks again Jack. Rest in peace in the ultimate sports venue. Ed Hartmann.

Jack and Jan were my mother (Gladys Stratton) next door neighbors on Olney for many years. He once called my mom that well known sportswoman in his column. This is hysterical as my mother never played one sport. Remember both Jack and Jan with great fondness.

To the best sports editor for the Gazette. The only one that shared Notre Dame Fighting Irish sports, especially football news and scores unlike now in which is all M go !!
The This and That columns are truly missed along with the "those who want to be Irish" columns on each St. Patty's Day.. Rest in peace my Irish lad, and may our lord shine upon your loving and giving heart Jack!!
