Jack Eric Nelson, age 78 of Lake Wawasee, Syracuse, IN, died at 2:55 am, Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Ft. Wayne with his family by his side. He was born May 16, 1946 in Elkhart to Raymond and Norma (Sawyer) Nelson. Jack was a graduate of Wakarusa High School and attended Taylor University. He married Kathy Molarjik, December 30, 2016.
Jack enjoyed careers in sales and management at Ameritech and in Social Media Marketing, and for many years he additionally owned a Nelson's BBQ franchise in Northeast Ohio. Jack's first love was spending time with his family. He also loved boating, fishing, aviation, and flying with his wife who is an accomplished pilot. He was a member of the National Auburn Cord Duesenberg Club and was a licensed 107 commercial drone pilot.
Surviving is his wife, Kathy; son, Chett (April) Nelson, Goshen; daughter, Stephanie (Bobby) Geitgey, Georgia; stepdaughters, Tami Gulia, Toledo, OH, Angela Hunter, Kendallville; grandchildren, Legend Hurd, Julia, Jenna, and Jaedyn Nelson, Abagail (Trent) Wuchter, Julianna Gulia, Isabelle Hunter; great grandchildren, Eli and Audrey Wuchter, Aiden Hurd; and sister, Brenda (John) Reinebach, CA.
Family and friends may call Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 9:00-11:00 am at Nappanee Missionary Church. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. Pastor Dave Engbrecht and Pastor Joe Focht will officiate. Burial will be in Olive West Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Nappanee Missionary Church.
