Grace Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. Obituary

Jack Odom
1960-2025

Jack Odom, affectionately known to all who loved him as “Booney” or “Booney Jack,” was born on December 19, 1960, in Monticello, Florida, to Willie and Ossie B. Odom. He was raised in a home that reverenced God, a foundation that shaped his life’s journey. Before his passing, Jack accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, bringing peace and assurance to him and his family.

Jack was educated in the Jefferson County School System and proudly graduated with the Class of 1978, from Jefferson County High School, home of the Fighting Tigers. Shortly after graduation, he made the honorable decision to serve his country, joining the United States Army, where he served faithfully until 1982.

Upon returning to his hometown after military service, Jack dedicated many years to the trades he knew best. He worked as a skilled brick mason and in landscaping, contributing his labor, strength, and craftsmanship to the community he cherished. With his natural wit, resourcefulness, and determination, “Booney” later embraced entrepreneurship, offering his talents independently to clients who valued his hard work. He continued in this role until his health no longer allowed, leading to his retirement in 2022.

A true outdoorsman at heart, “Booney” found his greatest joy beneath open skies. He loved to hunt and fish, and those who knew him can attest: if it was wild, he would find it, hunt it, kill it, and eat it. He embodied the spirit of a genuine country boy—fearless, skilled, and deeply connected to the land.

On Wednesday, November 19, 2025, while at his home in Monticello, Florida, Jack “Booney” Odom answered the Master’s call and peacefully transitioned from this life.

Left to honor and treasure his memory are his brother, John (Martha) Odom of Monticello, FL; his sisters Jennie Simmons and Lillie Odom, both of Monticello, FL, and Isabella Odom-Ford of Panama City, FL. He is also lovingly remembered by his devoted niece and caregiver, Ebony (Michael) Webb-Troutman of Tallahassee, FL; his brothers-in-law Earnest Bellamy and Wayne Jones, both of Monticello, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends whose lives were brightened by his presence.

“Booney” was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Ossie B. Odom; his brother, Horace Odom; his sisters Willie Mae Houston-Murray, Savannah Bellamy, Fannie Ricardo, and Josephine Jones; as well as his paternal and maternal grandparents.

His memory will remain a blessing to all who were privileged to share in his life. May His Soul Rest In Peace and Rise In Glory.
