Jack B. Oruch

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

Professor Oruch was one of an outstanding English Department Faculty while I worked there from 1967 - 1991. We will miss him. My heart goes out to you and your family, Elaine.

Dear Elaine,
Nan Scott had passed on updates about Jack's condition over the years, so we were generally aware of what you were going through as a couple. We can't remember anything that you or Jack did during the time we knew you in Lawrence that wasn't kind and thoughtful. I think of your hospitality to Beth when she was little, and of Jack's care of my weird voluntary teaching overloads when he was Associate Chair. It's odd that our faculty rarely discussed their own work with one...

I'm so sorry about your loss. You and Jack used to walk by our house on Sharon Drive. Around the blocks was exactly a mile, Jack said. I miss those days when we walked with our husbands and paused to exchange greetings. With deepest sympathy, ---Elaine

Dear Elaine, Morna and Tobin--Jack's death just came to my attention, and so I am thinking of all of you and remembering him...it seems a million years since the hours spent in your driveway and your living room, Elaine--a place in which all of Tobin's friends were made to feel very
