Jack Reynolds Obituary

Jack Dalton Reynolds, 78, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010.
Funeral: 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Meadowbrook United Methodist Church, 3900 Meadowbrook Drive, Fort Worth. Interment: Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Meadowbrook United Methodist Church.
Jack was born April 7, 1931, in Fort Worth. He graduated from Polytechnic High in 1949 and TCU in 1954. He married Mary Nell Clack in 1950.
Jack was an aerospace engineer at Convair/General Dynamics/Lockheed Martin for 37 years, retiring in 1993. He held five patents and authored 26 national publications.
He was a lifetime member of Meadowbrook United Methodist Church, where he taught fifth- and sixth-grade Sunday school classes from 1950 until 2005 and was a member of the Wesleyan Class. He also served many years as Scoutmaster and post adviser for Troop 12, Boy Scouts of America, where he attained the rank of Eagle Scout with Bronze and Silver Palms.
Jack played fast-pitch softball for Meadowbrook for 37 years and managed the team for 12 years. He was selected All-City and All-State catcher many times, state most valuable player in 1964 and played on four state championship teams. He was inducted into the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation Hall of Fame in 2007.
While a fierce competitor on the playing field, he was a gentle man in life. Jack was an avid reader, collector and genealogical researcher. He had a special fondness for animals and a menagerie of pets. He loved to learn and to teach. His grandchildren will remember his many stories of family and history.
Jack loved visiting and keeping up with friends from his school days, church, work and softball, but his greatest pleasure in life was time spent with his family. Jack had many talents but was best at being a son, brother, husband, father, grandparent and uncle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fain and Mildred Reynolds; brother, Randol Reynolds; and son, Stan Reynolds.
Survivors: His loving wife of 59 years, Mary Reynolds; children, Dan Reynolds and Angela Cross; grandchildren, Chris, Ally, Kylie, Travis, Corbin, Conner and Stanton; and brother, Don Reynolds of Eau Claire, Wis.

Dan, Brenda and Mrs. Reynolds,

Mr. Reynolds was a wonderful man. He made a great impact, through baseball and Sunday School, on many, many, many generations of people at Meadowbrook Methodist. He always had a smile and a twinkle in his eye. We were all blessed in knowing him.

Cherish your memories...

My deepest sympathy,

Pam Pollock McDuff

P.S. I bet he is organizing a baseball game in Heaven now!

Hi sweet Reynolds family -
I so remember sweet "Mr. Reynolds". My whole family (the Tom McDonald family) has such fond memories of the entire Reynolds family, including my pal Brenda - Dan's wife - from Meadowbrook Methodist Church. My heart goes out to you as you mourn this loss. I will celebrate his life and his triumphant entry into Heaven, where he can join his parents and Stan as well as other loving family members and friends.

Reynolds family,

I had the pleasure of taking care of Jack (and Mary) in the hospital and I want you all to know how much much of an impact your family has made on me. I'm genuinely sorry for your loss but am comforted in the fact that he's no longer suffering. I loved our TCU baseball chats and will cherish the few memories I have of him. Thank you for letting me be a part of your lives.

Dear Mary and family: In 1966, fresh out of Seminary, and in need of significant relationships, you and Jack, and the whole extended family known as the Reynolds clan, were there for me in a significant way. The first time you and Jack invited me to your home, I knew there was something remarkable and benevolent about this family. With the fondest of memories of you and Jack, I send you my love from Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Mike Spalding

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. If I had to guess I would think Jack already had a ball game organized in heaven with all the great players from the many Meadowbrook people already there in heaven.
