Jack R. Richards

Jackie “Jack” R. Richards, 86, of Grinnell died on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at UnityPoint-Grinnell. A family gathering will take place at a later date.

Jack was born on August 7, 1937, to Harold and Dorothy Carter Richards in Irwin, Iowa. He graduated from Irwin High School and was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served the country for two years. Jack was married to Margelene Embree in Newton Iowa in 1984. Jack was a seed sales rep for many years then went to work for Martin Marietta where he retired from in 2001. 

Jack is survived by his wife, Margelene Richards of Grinnell; son, Tom Richards of Johnston, Iowa; step-children, Lisa (Tim) Pontier of Prole, Iowa, Susan (Scott) German of Grinnell, Mark Embree of Washington, Iowa and Gina (Chad) Beck of Grinnell; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Tim Richards and brothers, Larry Richards and Kenny Richards.
