I was saddened today to read of the death of Senator Schroeder in the Des Moines Register. He was a great friend of my father, Senator Joe Coleman. Although they were on opposite sides of the aisle, my father greatly respected and admired his friend. I pause to think of how much better off our country would be if it followed the example of these two "giants". The passing of Senator Jack is yet another page being turned in the log of the greatest generation. He will be remembered this Sunday...
