I joined Wal-Mart in 1972. The first time I met Mr. Shewmaker was in 1973 in Mexico, MO. He found out that my families roots were in Buffalo, MO. and we had a special relationship for a number of years. He used to stop by McDonalds where my wife Roberta worked. He would always ask her how Gary was doing. He was a man that you could respect, believe, and admire. Thanks to his dedication to all Wal-Mart associates. He will truly be missed.
