Jack F. Sinn, age 94, of Point Pleasant died Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick. He was born in Newark, NJ on February 18, 1922, to the late Helen and Fred Sinn. Jack was raised in Irvington, graduated from Irvington High School in 1939 and from Colgate University in December 1942. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp from January 1943 to February 1946 and graduated from Cornell University Law School in May of 1948.
He practiced law in Point Pleasant Beach from 1948 until his retirement in 1998, then the senior member of Sinn, Fitzsimmons, Cantoli, West & Pardes. During this period, he was involved in many community activities. He was Past President of the Point Pleasant Rotary Club, Secretary of the Point Pleasant First Aid and Emergency Squad, Scout Master of Point Pleasant Beach Troop 6, President of the Point Pleasant Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Big Sea Day Parades from 1955 to 1957, the First Chairman of the Point Pleasant Hospital Foundation and Trustee of the Point Pleasant Hospital and its successor, Ocean County Hospital Association.
He was the Attorney for the Borough of Bay Head, Mayor of Point Pleasant Beach, and General Counsel and Director of Ocean County National Bank until its merger with Summit Bancorporation. He then became a Director of Summit Bancorporation and was a member of its Executive and Adult Committees until his required retirement in 1992. Jack was a member of Kappa Delta Rho Social Fraternity at Colgate; Phi Alpha Delta Legal Fraternity at Cornell University and a member of the Manasquan River Golf Club. He was also a member of St. Mary's By The Sea Episcopal Church in Point Pleasant Beach.
During his adult life, he lived in Point Pleasant for two years, Point Pleasant Beach for 13 years, Brielle for 44 years and returned to Point Pleasant in 2008.
He was predeceased by his first wife Barbara Ann Sinn in 1982, his son Jonathan P. Sinn in 2011, his daughter-in-law Rebecca Sinn, in 2004, and his brother-in-law Nelson Jacobus.
Jack is survived by his wife, Joan M. Sinn; his son Christopher Sinn and his step-sons and their wives, Michael and Stephanie Birch, Timothy and Pamela Birch, Patrick and Rosemarie Birch, Kevin Birch and Stephen Birch; his grandchildren, James and his wife Brittany Birch, Joshua Sinn, Austin, Connor, Avery, Blaine, Stephen, Jarrett, Madison, Caroline and Canyon Birch; his great grandchildren, Trey III, Jace, Lucus and Faith Birch. He is also survived by his sister, Elaine Arciszewski and her husband Raymond; his sister-in-law Carol McGonegal and her husband Phillip; his sister-in-law Gerri Jacobus; and his former daughters-in-law Lorrie and Karen Birch; numerous nieces and nephews as well as Joan and Jack's mentee and friend, Guss Jenkins.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Mary's By the Sea Episcopal Church, 804 Bay Ave., Point Pleasant Beach on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at 12 noon. His cremated remains will be buried in the Church Memorial Garden after services. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Mary's By the Sea Episcopal Church or a charity of your choice.
