Jack Spence, formerly of Munster, IN, more recently of Avon, IN, passed away Saturday, May 19th, 2012. Jack was born in 1922 in Evans City PA, attended Purdue University where he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering with distinction in a wartime-shortened 3 year program, served in the US Army Air Corps in WWII, and was a long-time employee of Pullman Standard where he earned many patents. Jack is survived by his wonderful wife Virginia, his daughter Janet Owens and her husband Tim, his son John and his wife Karlene Johnson, and his grandchildren Kate, Dave, and Alex. Jack enjoyed his friends, golf, and big band swing music. Jack was active in the community, delivering Meals on Wheels during retirement. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday May 25, 2012 at Conkle Funeral Home Avon Chapel. With a memorial visitation from 2 p.m. until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels.
So sorry to hear of uncle Jacks passing. I will always remember his wit and sense of humor. He was a good man. Our prayers are with your family.
