Jack was a life long friend of our family. Jack and my father followed a very similar path through their lives. Both studied music at Ohio State, served in the army and played in the army band. Don and Jack became high school band directors in Toledo, played many dance jobs together including the circus and Music Under The Stars. Jack was a fine person, excellent musician and a great teacher and conductor. He was a fixture in my life from 5th grade at DeVeaux through high school. I graduated from DeVilbiss in 1962. Mr. Tongring taught me how to play clarinet at a very young age. Music was a passion for me through out my years in school. I played clarinet, tenor and alto sax .I was in band in Leverette JH . In HS I achieved many levels in music and band . Upon entering I marched in the 1985 ( playing Tenor ) Washington DC July 4th parade. My freshman year in orchestra I unseated a senior in competition and sat 3rd chair 1st clarinet! After my freshman year I sat 1st chair throughout the rest of my years...
