Dear family of Jack Walker. While I never met Mr. Walker, my mother, Rosalie Dunn Utes worked with him at the Girard Hospital in the mid 50's while we were living in Girard. Genevieve Walker, his sister was my first grade teacher as well as my sisters. I corresponded with Ms. Walker off and on for some time, and she always mentioned her brother. I first met Jack after he took his seat in the Kansas Senate, succeeding Jan Meyers, who I had the good fortune of serving with. He set aside all his personal accomplishments accumulated by that time, both politically and professionally, and had the grace of simply introducing himself as being from Girard, which was near my hometown of Pittsburg. He delivered both our daughters in 1955 & 1957 in Girard, Ks. He was a wonderful, caring doctor. I was lucky to get to visit him when he was mayor of OP.
