Not sure what to say?

I knew Jack from sailing Hobie Cats. He was a fabulous fellow, generous of spirit and both fun and funny. He loved being on the water and hosting the hilarious "mid-winters Dr.Who" annual event for those of us who raced the Hobie 14s (and a few others). Here's a picture of him working with another good sailor fixing something on his boat. When I read his first book on medicine during the civil war I learned so much about him, his research style and his writing. Lovely man... I feel...

I occasionally crossed paths with Dr. Welsh when I first started working at the Oklahoma City VAMC in 1982, just out of my residency. I was always struck by his friendliness and enthusiasm; his demeanor and attitude are worth emulating.

Jack became my doctor in 1967 when I started working at the OUHSC. My husband and I also would see him socially once in a while. He was one of the most understanding and nicest persons I've ever known. He used to win the award for best liked M.D. by the med students. (I forgotten the name of the award). My deepest sympathies to his family.

I first met Jack when I was a Medical Student and he was Chief Resident. He was a phenomenal mentor and friend. Although I haven't seen him much over the years, the memories burn brightly. He was one of the reasons I loved Medicine.
