Not sure what to say?

Jack was my music theory professor, and he helped me to gain the confidence i needed to have a career as an engineer and producer of records. Jack has always been one of my heroes.

My wife keeps telling me how many times I quote Dr. Wheaton's teachings, even decades later. I had the honor to study with him very extensively at the USC music school. I first met him when I auditioned to be one of the 84 pianists playing Rhapsody in Blue, at 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. He taught me so much about music, music theory, the business, and the spiritual life. God bless him forever. Alan.

Back in the early 70s, I played trombone as a non-music major at Cerritos JC. Jack was an amazing person and I loved playing his arrangements. Two of them that I'll never forget were "Where's the Playground, Susie?" and "Norwegian Wood". I still get chills when I think about playing those tunes at a festival. He definitely made an impact on me and I'll never forget him.

i studied music theory and jazz improv with Jack at College Of The Redwoods. i also played in his big band and recorded an album with him. He was a huge factor in my music education. Later when i became a high school band director i would see Jack at IEAJ convention and we would always have a drink and catch up. When i left teaching to pursue a career performing i traveled so much and for so long, i lost contact with many people, Jack being one of them. i am quite sad to hear of his passing....

Dearest Jack, for a couple of short years, I had the privilege of playing under you with t he Rancho Santa Fe jazz orchestra. We had our "moments", but I so vividly remember our "heart to heart" we had in your office before I departed for New Orleans.

Jack, thanks for your tutelage and for providing a nice playing outlet for so many of us in an increasingly dead culture. You loved music and we loved you, brother. Keep swingin', Jack!

My condolences to the family Dr Wheaton during the time I attend SCC he was a wonderful musician composer , performer , and friend he will be missed!

I am so sorry to hear about Jack passing away! I played under his direction at Cerritos College. He was a wonderful music educator and encouraged many professional musicians to come and perform at Cerritos. We will all miss him!

Beloved Jack. Heaven has another faithful musician to continue praising our Lord. We will miss you but never forget you.
