Jennie, we knew each other as children growing in First Baptist Church of Charleston. As an adult, I lived down the street from your dad on Palmetto Dr. He was such a dear man, always stopping to chat as he took his daily walk around the neighborhood. My fondest memories, though, are those of seeing him at church as teaching my Dad's Sunday School class. He encouraged them and their concerns were his concerns. He was such a great asset to First Baptist Church, and I'll always remember him...

I was so sorry to hear of Mr. Wilks passing. Such a lovely, kind soul. I looked forward to his greeting me every day sitting out on the porch in the rocker with his hat on. We will truly miss him. Praying for comfort for your family.
