Jackie (Jack) was born on March 14, 1939 to John and Helen (Aldous) Denton in Granville, New York and died on March 30, 2022 in Glendale, Arizona. He was 83 years old. Jack attended Granville High School, graduating with a small class of 53 in 1957. He was a track and field star, and still holds track records there. Upon graduation Jack enlisted in the United State Air Force to serve his country, retiring after 20 years of honorable service in 1978, from which he retired a Master Sergeant. As a recruiter for the last 4 years in the USAF, Jack became close friends with many of his fellow recruiters - friendships that have remained strong throughout the years. He also worked in Management at Motorola and retired from there in 1998.
After his second retirement, Jack dedicated much of his time to service supporting the fraternal works at the Local State and National Level for the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. He was a life member of the Tempe Lodge, serving on many Lodge Committees, as Exalted Ruler at the Tempe Lodge in 1987-1988, Grand Lodge District Deputy to the Grand Exalted Ruler in 1997-1998 and Arizona Elks State Vice President. He also provided his services to the Elks Scottsdale Lodge. Jack was a life member in the VFW John Jackson Post, Tempe Arizona.
Survivors include his wife Kathy (Theresa Kathlene) of Glendale, Arizona, Daughter Lisa (Brian) Sampson of Phoenix, Arizona, Son Dean (Brooke) Denton of Waverly Hall, GA, Daughter Thelma Briggs of Glendale, Arizona, Son Travis (Elizabeth) Wootten, of Showlow, Arizona, Daughter Connie (Christopher) Rosario of Phoenix, Arizona, Daughter Rachel (Steven) of Glendale, Arizona, Son Alex Luck, of Glendale, Arizona, Sister Joan (Robert) Holden, of Gilbert, Arizona. Jack also leaves behind 20 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Helen.
Jack loved everything to do with sports on TV and was an avid sports fan, cheering on the Suns, Diamondbacks, and Cardinals through the years. He enjoyed getting out for a round of golf and belonged to several bowling leagues in his younger years. After spending many childhood days on his Grandpa's farm, it was only natural that in recent years, Jack loved tending to his "farm" playing Farmville.
He leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends who always felt loved and cared for in his presence.
