Not sure what to say?

Jackie was one of a kind. She had common sense, was well informed, and was a good listener. Mostly, I'll remember her as someone who cared. She cared about our community, she cared about our future, and was never beguiled by all of the spin and posturing. She knew instinctively how to get to the real story.

It hurts to lose Jackie Nickel. She will very much be missed.

Lux aeterna luceat ei, Domine, cum sanctis tuis in aeternum, quia pius est.
For you, Jackie, from the "old days"--a prayer that has no end.

It was my great privilege to know Jackie. I met her many years ago while working on various cemetery projects in Middle River and Essex as I am the Cemetery Chair for the Baltimore County Genealogical Society. The area has lost one of its greatest historians. Jackie was so kind and just a complete pleasure to be around. Her grandson, Thomas was her pride and joy. To the family, I pray she is resting in the loving arms of God, our Father. I know she will lovingly watch you all from up above.

I

first met Jackie and her mother a number of years ago when I was doing research

for a book on Baltimore movie theaters. They both were very hospitable and

provided me with much invaluable information. Over the years Jackie helped

me find much more data on local theaters. She was a kind, generous and all-around

nice person. She will be greatly missed.

Jackie-
Thank you for including a "newcomer" to this piece of paradise on earth. Now that you are in a higher position, I can only hope that you will continue to watch over us and inspire in us your deep love and appreciation for preserving this part of the Chesapeake Bay.

With Great Affection and Admiration,
Helen Bryant

Jackie was my first boss out of college at the East County Times and still stands as one of the best. She was an excellent mentor, friend, and all around warm-loving person. I never forgot how she gave me my first real opportunity in the professional world. I know I am one of many that will always think of her fondly and will miss her. Thanks Jackie for being you.

My prayers and thoughts go out to Jackie's family. Essex residents will sorely miss her! She was known for her work and voice for our community. She assisted me with issues that I had with the group home near me.
Peace be with you.

Jackie was such a wonderful woman and I feel lucky to have known her and her family. She was always so kind and welcoming. Jackie worked tirelessly for causes close to her heart and community, but always found time for family and friends. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family in this difficult time.
