I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Simpson but I did have the pleasure of witnessing his football career at Miami Edison. He was absolutely one of the greatest running backs to ever play in Dade County. On 11/27/52 (my 10th birthday) he broke my heart and the hearts of all MHS Stingaree fans when he almost singlehanded led the Red Raiders to their first ever win over MHS 21-7. One of the greatest performances by one high school player I ever witnessed. My condolences to his family. God...

We have lost a hero. I was blessed to know Jackie, and to follow his career. He was a leader and an example to all that knew him.

So many wonderful memories and so many tears .. He and Jimmy played together on the Red Devils football team at age 10 and were very close friends till my Jimmy's death 4 years ago ... Then Jackie remained a special friend as we spoke "gator" over these last years and talked about all our great times together ! His children were a wonderful support to him as he fought the good fight ! Love to you all , Nan Rountree
