Jackson Fitzgerald Moses, 87, of Huntington died Wednesday, June 29,2005 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was born September 26, 1917 in Huntington and raised in Iaeger, WV. He was the son of the late Alberta Lansing and Lida Augusta Fitzgerald Moses. He graduated from Greenbrier Military Academy and Marshall University where the executive board room in the new Ericson Alumni Center will be named after him. He served in the US Army Infantry during WW II earning the rank of Captain and crossed the Bridge at Remagen just before it fell. He entered the automobile business in January of 1947 in Welch, WV. In Welch, he was active with the Shriners, president of the Rotary Club, and a member of the First Methodist Church where he served as head of the committee to rebuild the church. Jack Moses was the founder of the Moses Automotive Network with fourteen franchises and five locations in Huntington, Charleston, and St.Albans. He was past president of the West Virginia Automobile Dealers Association and a member of General Motors National Dealer Council. He was a member of Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church for forty-nine years, the City Club, the Rotary Club, and Past President of Guyan Golf and Country Club. He and his wife, Sue Harris Moses, divided their time between Huntington and Vero Beach, Florida.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: William Price Moses and Thomas Hillary Moses. He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Sue Harris Moses; three sons, Jackson F. Moses II and wife, Marsha, Robert Lee Moses and wife Nikki, and John Steven Moses and wife Doris, and one daughter, Barbara Sue Moses Atkins and husband Randall; and thirteen grandchildren: Jackson Fitzgerald Moses III and wife Halcyon, Mary Ann Moses, Sarah Jane Moses, and Katherine Lee Goldy and husband Joel, Suzanne Virginia Moses, Meredith Brandt Moses, Madison Lee Moses, Drew Whittaker Atkins, Orin Barton Atkins, Laura Fitzgerald Atkins, Meaghan McCagey Moses, Lauren Arlene Moses and John Steven Moses; and 3 great grandchildren, Éowyn McGregor Moses, Jackson Fitzgerald Moses IV, and Harper Lee Goldy.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, July 2nd at 3:00 p.m. at the Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Joseph Shreve. Burial will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church prior the service from 1-3p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to Marshall University Ericson Alumni Center or Hospice of Huntington.
