Not sure what to say?

Jake was one of the most godly men I knew. I met him through my brother on my 17th birthday when we all attended a Nickel Creek concert. He spent a lot of time at our house when he was in Atlanta and I thank God for the time I had to know him. His grace and charity will stay with me. I hope he's jamming on a mandolin with God right now. To the Berkowitz's: thank you for sharing your son with us in Atlanta. I'm not going to forget him.

Jake was my cousin and a great friend to me. He cared for me and loved me. But most of all, he was a gift of God and cared not just for himself but for other people. He knew that in his heart he had to spread the word. But he was taken over by a brain tumor called "GBM". Finally, Jake passed away from it. It was a sad moment for all of us. Before Jake passed away, we had good times. We went out to dinner together and went bowling. We went to a special place called "Daryl's...

Jake was as great a friend as a person could ever hope to have. I'll always cherish the talks we had...whether it was at emory, or after his illness wandering around philly or taking in a show. The love of God shone through him, and i'll always remember the times we spent together. Thank God for friends like Jake!

I first met Jake during my sophomore year of college, at Emory University, in Atlanta, GA. In fact, along with my fellow teammates, we were among the first people Jake met that year, as an entering freshmen. Looking back at that now, it's a distinct honor and privilege to have been in that situation. Jake was one of us -- a fellow Emory cross country runner and a member of our extended family. As per tradition, each new member of the mens team receives an animal nickname, a name that we...

I had the privilege of running with Jake on the Emory men's cross country team. Word of his passing has been relayed about from email to email between the team. News like this is always difficult to accept, especially when it involves such talented and altruistic people like Jake. Please rest assured that despite his quiet demeanor, he will be remembered vividly by all of us who spent so much time and ran so many miles with him.

It is my most earnest prayer that his family's grief...

Jake was a great friend and competitor on the Emory Cross Country team. He will always be remembered by his fellow animals for his faith, and kind spirit. Here's to you, Coyote.

Jake came to visit me in the hospital when I was recovering from a three-week long illness, just this summer. I remember being a little shocked when he and Donna came into the room, and Jake's face was the size of a basketball..but Jake didn't seem to be discouraged at all. He came in and looked worried...about me. I was sitting there, at almost full recovery, and he was sitting there, internally fighting for his life, asking me how I was doing and showing his concern only for me. That...

Hey Jake, You were on my heart & in my prayers. Losing a husband to a brain tumor made me very aware of how to pray for you & your loved ones.My son Taylor told me when his Dad was ill that if he were Jesus he would want Daddy with Him. I guess Jesus needed you more. My prayers are with those you left behind. Love, Monica Tramontina

Jake was such a sweet person-- an encouragement and friend to everyone. I met Jake at Emory, through our Christian Fellowship group, and was always impressed with his kindness. To his family and those who knew him, you're in my thoughts and prayers.
