Jacob Michael Brill

Jacob Michael Brill, 90, of Apollo, died on Monday, March 11, in the Kittanning Care Center, Kittanning. Born on December 29, 1922 in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Peter and Elizabeth (Loris) Brill. Jacob was raised in Pittsburgh, moved to Verona and spent six years in Florida before moving back to Pennsylvania in 2003. He was employed as a machinist at U.S. Gypsum in Oakmont before retiring in 1985. Jacob was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church and a Veteran of World War II, serving as staff Sergeant in the US Army Infantry. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brill was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Dorothy M. Brill who passed on October 19, 2010, two brothers; Peter and John Brill, and a sister, Elizabeth Howard. He is survived by a daughter, Dorothy ("Dottie") Blystone of Apollo, three sons; Jim (Ursula) Brill of West Deer Township, Ronald (Janine) Brill of Richmond CA, and Donald (Karen) Brill of Ardara, PA, also 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Family and Friends will be received on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00pm in the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 100 Owens View Avenue, Apollo. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 10:00am at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Apollo with Father John Euker as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Lakewood Memorial Gardens, Indianola, PA.
