Not sure what to say?

Our family sends our deepest regrets and caring to your family, Jake. We, too, lost our beloved 18 year old son on August 8 this summer, and hope you two have "found" each other in your next life - he was a debater and speech maker, too - full of fun; you would enjoy each other. Our hearts go to you and your loved ones - may we all find peace in our new lives. Karyn Ellingson and John Goodhand

Offering our deepest condolences during this difficult time

Jake was in one of the last speech classes I taught at Lathrop High School. It was one of those special classes with a chemistry that was sparked by his exuberance and great smile. I want to share three memories.

The first is of his demonstration speech. Those speeches were supposed to be 5 to 6 7 minutes long. Jake came in with three grocery bags and an electric wok. Forty-five minutes later, he was still stir-frying chicken, throwing broccoli and...

I know there are no words that can take away the pain and sorrow at a time like this. My thoughts are with you. I loved working with Jake and getting to know him during his years at Lathrop. I'll always remember his smile, boundless energy and warm heart.

Jake's infectious smile and spirit of fun will be fondly remembered by many of us here at Lathrop. I'm very glad I had the opportunity to be his teacher and get to know him. He will be greatly missed.
