Can it be true? I was searching for Jacob to tell him something interesting I learned about a poster he bought for me in 1978. The poster is still on my living room wall 32 years later. I am so deeply saddened by this news.

To Eddie And the Pelta Family, I'm sorry for our lost. Jacob has been a dear friend of mine for many years. All though he and I have not talked in a few years. our past has bonded us forever. I received a face book message 2 days ago about Jacob passing. I am deeply sadden to hear this...Please forgive me for not being a better friend to Jacob..that the message would have gotten to me sooner. He will always have a special place in my heart..My prayers are forever with you...Sincerely Carlton...

Jacob and I started almost at the same time for Candace and Company based out of Seattle. Together, we built our business in Oregon and called ourselves "the Oregon Contingency". With joy, enthusiasm and fun, I enjoyed every minute with Jacob. We laughed, we cried, we shared stories. But mostly we just felt comfortable with each other. As Eddie came along, Jacob was filled with a new kind of joy that only love could provide. When Jacob left to be with Marcel Sherman, now Papyrus, I was...

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Jacob's death. He and Eddie were two of the first people I met when I moved into the neighborhood and always looked forward to those times when we would run into each other as we walked dogs, shopped or just enjoyed the outdoors. I will miss his humor and compassion - he was a distinct presence, and will be sorely missed by my family.

Jacob helped establish our greeting card business at Sleighbells. I remember the day he and Eddie set up the first card order. He was so good at what he did. We are all diminished by his absence. He and Eddie and his family will be in my thoughts.

I was lucky to meet Jacob and Eddie--and Charlie and Henry and then Willie--as neighbors and friends when I moved to Portland several years ago. "Lucky" hardly describes the privilege of sharing their company. Talk about love having a ripple effect. Such a loss defies words and defies our capacity to understand. I pray for Eddie and for Jacob's family. May they be comforted by memories and by the love expressed by so many who knew and loved Jacob. Jeanne Robbana...
