Honaker Funeral Home, Inc. - Slidell Obituary

Jacqueline “Jackie” Ann Juillard Arcement, age 78, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024 in Slidell, Louisiana.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years Phillip Arcement, her parents Cmdr Floyd Juillard and Alice Maxine Mitchell Collins (Mike), and her brother Floyd James Juillard. She is survived by two half-siblings Randal Juillard and Dr. Diane Juillard-Wrubilk, her son Danny Arcement (Stacy), her daughter Julie Arcement-Gonzalez (Marc), and four grandchildren—Eric, Christian, Ethan, and Lindsay.

At the young age of 27, she was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, which over the years took its toll on her body. Despite this agonizing disease she was a devoted mother who always put her children first, even when it was too physically painful. Her first grandson was born on her 50th birthday. Despite the distance of her daughter living in France, she loved to spoil her grandsons.

Jackie was born on October 29, 1945 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She grew up in Old Gretna and for 10 years in Stryker, Ohio.  She was a graduate of West Jefferson High School class of ‘64 and a US Army veteran. She was passionate about the real estate market and visiting open houses.  She loved going to stores, shopping malls and going on rides with her husband. Jackie could spend hours talking about her childhood to her family and make them laugh with her sense of humor and her silliness. Her final residence was in Slidell, Louisiana where she lived for 24 years.

After a stroke in 2012 left her paralyzed, she was able to remain in her home for almost 10 years before entering Lacombe Nursing Center for the last two years of her life.  Despite all the hardships life had dealt her she was a fighter; she never lost hope and always had a strong will to live.

Funeral services will be held at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West, Slidell 70460, on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.  Visitation will begin at 10:00am followed by funeral services at 11:30am.

Interment will follow at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday after 10:00 A.M. until funeral time.

Glen and I are so sorry for your loss. Mrs. Arcement was so kind to me when Julie and I became friends in 5th grade and as our friendship continued over the years. She was so welcoming and hospitable, having me over often. I hope you all find comfort in knowing how much she loved you, her family, and in reflecting on the happy times you enjoyed together.
