Not sure what to say?

You would be so excited as it got closer and closer to your birthday. You´d comment on the extra hours of sunshine and the lengthening of the days. February will always remain special to me. I´ll always remember your birthday. Miss you

To the family of the late Mrs. Jacqueline Belfort-Chalat, My name is Chijioke Iwuchukwu , and though we have never met, I feel a profound connection to your family through the story of kindness and generosity shared by my late father. When Mrs. Jacqueline Belfort-Chalat and her family lived in Nigeria, my father worked for them. He always spoke of your family with immense gratitude and admiration, as your kindness changed the trajectory of his life. Through your family´s support, my...

I took drawing, painting, sculpture, and art history classes from Professor Belfort-Chalat during the 70s. It started out as just an elective in my science major but I enjoyed her class so much that I took more and ended up with a minor in Fine Arts. She was a joy to have known during that time of my life and I have never forgotten her.

I met Jacqueline at, of all places, our local gym! She,like me, was frustrated by the aches and pains of aging.I was amazed at her good humor and tenacity, returning day after day, to do battle with the ongoing years. Eventually we started to share visits to our local coffee shop. She asked me to visit her home to see some of her work, but, to my frustration with myself, I never took her up on her offer. Jaqueline was an indominable spirit and I am sure she is currently chasing the...

Bob and I have many fond memories of Jacqueline´s friendship over the 45 years We have been neighbors. Over the years we have shared our love of antiques -with many joint trips to Bouckville to increase our holdings. Jacqueline´s lovely garden was always a delight to visit. She will be surely missed. Love Diane and Bob Weldert

I'm very sorry for your loss. I had Professor Belfort-Chalat as an undergraduate at Le Moyne College for Drawing and Sculpture. She had a "bigger than life" presence about her in the studio classroom and always had your attention. 35+ years later I can still hear her distinctive voice in my head. She was super-intelligent and had a knowledge base spanning many disciplines. Her courses left me well prepared for later going to art school and having a career as an illustrator. In the studio...

Jacqueline was a pleasure to know. There are few people in your life you meet and realize they have a deeper, fuller, wider grasp of the World and their surroundings than you could ever hope to have. Tuned in and compassionate. I really enjoyed listening to her perspective on life. A rare gem who could make you a better person by sharing her insight. I will miss her but I am so glad I got to share time with her. A light that bright does not extinguish. Her spirit is strong and still very...

Jacqueline was the best lector I ever heard. I believe I first met her when I was the associate pastor at Holy Cross but then I remember when I was at Cathedral I often called upon her as a reader and believe that I encouraged her in the training of others. She was personable, intense, and had the Scriptures so imbued in her self that she oozed conviction in her proclamation. After leaving Cathedral, I only saw her a couple of other times when I returned from Latin America, but...
