Jackie lived with our family while she was in State College, Pa for her Jr. and sr. years of high school.
She was a great addition to our family and quickly became a sister to my brother, sister and myself.
One of my fondest memories of Jackie was on her 1968 birthday in State College. We had a 22 inch snow storm, schools closed at noon and we all went home. While on the bus a bunch of us decided to get together and go sledding for the afternoon.

Jackie and I met in college, were roommates for 2 yrs and friends for more than 50! We remembered birthdays, celebrated the joys of motherhood, and shared so many other experiences. I will miss the sound of her infectious laughter and how her face would light up. My memories of her strong will, love for all, deep faith and the courage to carry on, no matter the trial, will be with me forever. Rest in Peace. Patty and Jeff Hurd

Jackie was a wonderful person and loves all of her kids at Shelby. As the first African American teacher at the school she holds a special place. She was an excellent colleague and loved by so many of her students and fellow teachers. Such a dear and special soul. A terrible loss for all of us who knew her but she lives on in the many lives she touched and rests peacefully, free of all pain and sorrow. Love you Jackie.
