Jacqueline (Nelson) Shea, 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 7, 2018. She went home to God and to be with her husband, mother and family who she missed so much after battling so many health issues. Jackie was born on June 30, 1929 in Chicago, IL to John and Maude (Weitendorff) Nelson. She grew up on the south side of Chicago with her doting older brother Robert "Bob" Nelson. She attended Mount Vernon Elementary and Pullman Tech High School, where her future husband of 52 years, Richard Joseph Shea, also attended. Losing touch after high school they re-connected a year later and married shortly thereafter. Many years later they adopted and welcomed their two beloved daughters, Laura Jo Borrico (Shea) and Luanne "Annie" Shea. She raised her family in South Holland, IL with her loving mother (Maude Nelson) and amazing husband Richard, who she always said was "the nicest guy she ever met." In her early career Jackie worked as a keypunch operator for multiple companies in the Chicagoland area including the Rock Island Railroad Company and Atlantic India Rubber Company. In 1986 she began her 25-year long career with Public Storage where she worked as a property manager until the passing of her husband on October 10, 2003. Jackie happily lived out the remainder of her years at Mayslake Village Retirement Community where she made many wonderful friends, including her beloved kitty companion Kaley. She was very social and enjoyed participating in activities like ceramics, theatre, craft fairs, ice cream socials and bingo. She especially loved playing cards with her friends and was a proud member of the Red Hat Society. Above all Jackie will be remembered for her love and dedication to her family and to God. She was a source of limitless love in all of her roles as daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother (gigi), and friend. She was one of a kind with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She will be missed more than words can express. Her warmth and generosity live on in her caring daughters Laura Jo (Tony) Borrico and Luanne "Annie" Shea (Tim Christenson) Her incredible strength resides in her loving grandchildren Anthony (Nikki) Borrico, Wendi (Pete) Barth, Amy (Marc) Heath (Mesi), and Krysta Heath. Her joy and laughter resonates in her cherished great grandchildren Matthew, Nathan and Ali Borrico and Riley and Camden Barth. She is also survived by many wonderful family members and lifelong friends who she loved very much. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 11 from 3pm-9pm at Lack and Sons Funeral Home located at 9236 South Roberts Road in Hickory Hills. The funeral will be held Friday, Oct 12 beginning at Lack and Sons at 10:30am followed by a mass at Sacred Heart Church in Palos Hills at 11:30am and will proceed to Chapel Hill Gardens South cemetery to lay Jackie in her final resting place.
