Jacquelyn "Jackie" Davis of Burton, age 87, died December 18, 2019 at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at Swartz Funeral Home on Hill Rd. on Friday, Dec. 20 at 3 pm with visitation prior to service from noon to 3pm. Pastor Travis Toye of the Davison Church of Christ will officiate.
Jackie was born the only child of Jack and Maxine (Johnston) Vincent on October 19, 1932 in Detroit. She moved to Flint as a young child and attended Bendle Schools where she graduated in 1951.
She married the love of her life, the late Earl Davis, in 1952 and started their family in 1954. She was a career woman as well as a devoted wife and mother, working as a bookkeeper in several well-known Flint area companies such as The Flint Journal, Genesee Packaging and Consumers Power Company.
She and Earl were faithful Christians who gave of their time and talents to serve others. Jackie was a mainstay at the Church of Christ clothing donation center, as well as a trusted volunteer for many wedding and funeral dinners. After retirement, she spent countless hours helping out with her five grandchildren, babysitting and attending all their sports and band events throughout the years. She loved to travel and spend time with her family and was famous for being able to wear high heels with ease.
She leaves to cherish her memory daughter Deborah Johnson (Bob Jenkins), Joy (Lenny) Wilson, Jerry (Nancy) Davis and grandchildren Kevin Johnson, Benjamin and Lee Wilson, Mallory and Mitchell Davis and great grandsons Lain Johnson and Layton Wilson. She was preceded in death by husband Earl and her parents.
