BECKER RITTER ELMBROOK FUNERAL HOME Obituary

(Nee Astin) 85, Died at home surrounded by family, February 10, 2014. Beloved wife of Arthur for 59 years. Cherished mother of Mary (Mike) Pazdernik, Bill (Clare), Cassie (Mark) Moore, Bob (Mo) and Margaret Patch. Devoted grandma of David, Tom, Dan and Michelle Pazdernik, Nellie (Andrew) Dilgar, Alysa (Ben) Ellingboe, Andy, Emily, William Jr, Oliver, Maggie, Lucy, Duncan and Isabelle Patch, Bill and Chelsea Moore, Holly, Robert Jr, and Grace Patch and Sean Marks. Great grandma of Archer Dilgar. Preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Mary Astin, sisters Barbara Cemke, Rosemary Goetz and Caroline Lutz and infant sons Arthur and Thomas.

Upon graduating from Juneau High School, she went on to a successful career at Wisconsin Bell. In 1955, on a Tuesday, her favorite day of the week, she married Art. As a woman of many facets, she helped build a strong and loving family. She was gracious and optimistic with childlike wonder, fearless love of life and a spunky sense of humor. Among her passions were antiquing, gardening, baking and the Northwoods, where she and her family spent many summers. As an accomplished ballroom dancer she competed throughout the Midwest. She adored her dogs and ran a successful antiques business. Jackie was an excellent chef and loved to host and entertain. As a humanitarian she gave generously to charities and supported family and friends in need. She was a member of numerous groups, clubs and committees. As a long-time parishioner of St. Mary?s Church, she maintained her vigil in the Adoration Chapel for over 17 years. Jackie founded St. Martha?s Circle at Elmbrook Hospital. Throughout her journey she taught us the meaning of courage as she bore the burden of cancer with dignity, humor and grace. Jackie?s family would like to offer our sincerest gratitude to the staff at Season?s Hospice, especially Tom Boschuetz, RN., along with her loving caregivers, who kept Jackie comfortable while gently guiding her through her last days.

Visitation 10:00 am, February 18 at St. Mary?s Elm Grove, 1260 Church Street. 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial followed by committal services at St. Mary?s Cemetery.

Donations in Jackie?s memory may be made to The Marian Shrine at 141 N. 68th Street, Milwaukee, WI 53213

I miss you so much, Jack!!!!! I always want to remember you while you were baking in the kitchen with one of your wonderful aprons on. A pinch of this and a peck of that. Miss your sweet smell and welcome pecks. The best ever mother-in-law in the world---I'm so happy I had you, and still have you in my memories and in my heart. Luv you with a bush and a peck, Jack!!!!!! Your Bunny, Mo

Dear family I was saddened to hear of your loss. I will always remember her as the beautiful person she was. The engaging smile and mischievous twinkle in her eye. Her touch was felt by many whether at home or at the summer cottage. I know she's up there looking down on all of you with big smile.
