Dear Family & Friends:

As many of you know, our beautiful Princess, Jacquelyn Yvette Pena, was killed on April 12, 2017 in a senseless traffic accident in Houston, Texas.

Born on November 8, 1990 in Corpus Christi, Texas, Jackie Eve (as she liked to be called) was only 26 years old and a full fledged Scorpio. My wonderful Princess attended Incarnate Word Academy during her elementary school years and then went on to Wynn Seale Junior High, Ray High School and Del Mar College. For fun Jackie loved to play basketball and golf - she was a natural.

Jackie moved to Austin, Texas in 2014 to work in the transportation/limousine industry. She loved limos; she was only eight when she took her first limo ride as a reward for a great report card. Last year Jackie moved to Houston to advance her career.

Those who knew her will tell you our Jackie had a beautiful soul, gorgeous face and hilarious and comforting personality. Her life on this earth had purpose. Though she was taken too soon, Jackie made her mark on everyone she meant. She was always reminding her friends that they were beautiful and could do anything they wanted and no one could take their sunshine way. One of her friends said it best, "I promise this to Jackie, I will cherish this life, I will live it to the fullest, I will take chances because Jackie was never afraid to take a leap of faith. Even though she is not physically here, she was so strong and full of joy and life that her spirit will always be with us. She is in our hearts and soul, so speak to her out loud and she will find a way to tell you she is looking over you, protecting you and continuing to love you."

My name is Yvonne Marroquin Pena - I am Jackie's mother. She also left behind her father, Ernest Pena and her older brother Jared Pena.

Jackie is preceded in death by her maternal grand-father, Adolfo Maroquin, her paternal grandmother Josefina Pena, her aunts Yvette Marroquin and Luisa Pena and her Uncle Randy Marroquin.

She is survived by her maternal grandmother, Margarita Marroquin and her paternal grandfather, Ernesto Pena. Her uncles: Guy (Sylvia) Marroquin, Kenny (Nora) Marroquin, Max Marroquin, Adolph (Elva) Marroquin, Edward (April) Pena and Vanessa Chapa. Jackie also leaves behind many loving cousins and more than two thousand Facebook friends - all of whom she loved.

A memorial service celebrating our daughters beautiful life will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., at Memory Gardens Funeral Home here in Corpus Christi.

My dearest sister Yvonne, Ernest and Jared,

There are no words to express the deep sorrow we feel for the loss of our beautiful niece Jackie. We think of Jackie daily and we feel the loss of her adventures, fearless and sometimes feisty spirit! As we knew and as her many friends shared, Jackie inspired and encouraged them to live their lives fully because she certainly tried to do so! We will always love and miss her. She has her wings now and so it is comforting to know that she will always watch over you all, her beloved parents and her adored brother. We love you all and we are here for you too.

My condolences go out to the Pena family as well as to the MANY people who love and have known Jackie. My most fun and cherished memories as a young girl were with Jackie, she was the sister I never had. From playing sports together, summer slumber parties and going to the pool...I grew up with you and learned so much from our friendship.

We shared so much together and we could do/tell each other anything. I will miss that, you taught me to be courageous and to go for anything in life, regardless of what people thought.

I am a better person because of Jackie, I miss you so much already.

I cannot put in words how deeply sorry I am for the pain you must be feeling at this time - I cannot begin to imagine. Jackie and my daughter, Mallory attended IWA together and played on the same basketball team for years. Jackie was a beautiful person inside and out.
