Levittown
Standing 6-foot-3, Jae S. Moon played basketball and studied karate. His goal was to become an FBI agent. "He was a terrific young man," said Chuck Thompson, who lives across the street. "His main concern was how worried his parents were. He was looking forward to using his military experience to go to college." Moon, 21, of Levittown, Pa., died Dec. 25 in Baghdad of wounds suffered from a roadside bomb Dec. 14. He was assigned to Fort Carson and was on his second tour. He, his parents, and his older sister, Crystal, came to Pennsylvania from South Korea when he was 2. Moon graduated from high school in 2003. Though only 21, he had already been awarded many medals, attained the rank of sergeant and was promoted to squad leader. "He was really handsome," Young Moon said of his son. He also is survived by his mother, Ki. Moon reassured his parents that a Baghdad assignment was safer than his earlier duty in the Sunni Triangle. "He loved what he did," said Alice Nam, a longtime friend. He enlisted because "he wanted to support his family financially. He wanted to support his country," she said.

On this day and with each day that we enjoy our freedom, I would like to give thanks and let you know that I do not take our troops for granted. May you experience God when you feel your loss.

Not a day passes without a thought of Jae on that Christmas Day in Baghdad. Jae, you are extremely missed. You will always be remembered for the great man you were and for your sacrifice...until we meet again in the mansions of the Lord.

In Memory of Jae ~ (Debra Estep)
Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you...
