Jake J. Coblentz Jr. age 71, of Nappanee, died at 2:45 am, Monday, July 6, 2015 at IU Health Goshen Hospital. He fought a courageous fight with cancer for 6 years. He was born April 6, 1944 in Farmington Township, OH to Jake J. Sr. and Martha (Miller) Coblentz.

Mr. Coblentz moved to Indiana in 1972. He had worked as a superintendant in many local factories and also in construction. Jake loved his sports teams, the Buckeyes, Browns, and Indians. He especially was an avid Ohio State fan. He also loved to watch his grand kids play sports.

Surviving is his former wife and caregiver, Jeannie O?Dell, Nappanee; children, Don (Jen) Coblentz, Plymouth, Ron (Matthew) Coblentz, Mishawaka, Kelly Adams (fiancé, Eric Dudzinski), Nappanee, Stacy (Leslee) Coblentz, South Bend, Ashley (Adam) Smith, Sandy (Joe) Currie, both of Syracuse; 13 grandchildren; a great granddaughter; brothers, Noah (Judy) Coblentz, Parma Heights, OH, Albert J. (Wilma) Coblentz, Middlefield, OH; and sisters, Mattie (Dan) Yoder, Mary Hershberger, both of Fredericksburg, OH, Lydia (Mose) Troyer, Farmington, OH, and Amanda (Amos) Graber, Berne. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Betty Schmucker.

Family and Friends may call from 9-12 pm, Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Funeral services will begin at 2 pm, Saturday, at Brethren in Christ Church in Nappanee. Rev. Jeff Williams will officiate. Burial will follow in Bremen Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Goshen Hospice.

Jake was part of our family for nearly 25 years, during which he and Shirley raised three beautiful daughters whom he loved dearly. I know he will be missed by his girls, Stacey, Ashley and Sandy. My condolences for your loss.

Sandi, Stacy, Ashley, so sorry for the loss of your dad. We met him several times during the years when we visited with you and your mom and dad, Shirley and Jake. Those seem to have been happy years for you all and I'm sure good memories to treasure.

Jake was a wonderful man who always carried a smile and loved all those around him. He loved all six of his children and all his grandchildren dearly. That's all he ever talked about! We will miss him dearly and God Bless all his family.

I first met him in Middlefield 50 years ago. He was a very polite and caring person.My husband and I will miss him. Praying for his children and my dear friend Jeannie love you guys.

I want to send my deepest sympathy to my daughter in law Ashley Smith and her sisters Sandi and Stacey for the loss of their dad. Jake was a great man and great grandfather. Whenever I saw him, he always made sure that he said hello and asked how we were doing. Sorry for your loss! RIP!
