Anticipated Fatherhood
James Patrick envisioned his future as filled with children — shouting, playing, bouncing around the house. "He really liked the noise, the chaos, the Sunday morning with everyone jumping in bed with you," said his wife, Terilyn. "I was bargaining for three kids. He didn't want to settle for any less than four."

But Mr. Patrick, a bond broker at Cantor Fitzgerald, died seven weeks before his first child, Jack, came into the world. "We would talk about that stuff all the time," Mrs. Patrick said. "He really loved the thought of teaching them to play hockey and going to all their games, and in college, going up to their games and tailgating with them."

Mr. Patrick, 30, grew up with five siblings in a noisy Irish family, and he wanted to repeat the experience from a dad's point of view. Last spring, a few weeks after Ms. Patrick learned she was pregnant, the couple moved from the Upper West Side to a condo in Norwalk, Conn. It was to be a brief stop on the way to a big house in Fairfield County. "They have great hockey there, for the kids," Ms. Patrick said. "Darien has great hockey."

I was just listening to an alternative radio station in my office, and Bjork came on. I immediately thought of Jim. Her song "Hit" was released in 1991, and at the time I thought it was a great song! (I kind of still do...) Every time it came on the radio, I would have to turn it up. One time, we were having a party in our dorm room, and Jim was there. The song came on, and I blasted it, and told Jim that he needed to dance to it, because it was an awesome song! He just cracked up at me. ...

Alicia,

As the anniversary approaches yet again, my thoughts turn to you. I cannot believe that it has been 14 years... Sending love and light to you and yours.

Well I knew Jim through his brother Shawn and I had the pleasure of hanging out at the Patrick house watching the fighting irish. Thought of Jim so close to the anniversary. I will keep him in my prayers

Alicia,

This time of year always makes me think of you.... Keeping you and your family in my prayers. Sending love and light your way. Gone, but never forgotten.

To the family of James Patrick. We just visited the WTC Memorial and looked for a name to write to the family to let them know that their loved one was not forgotten. I am the dad, James, and I have boys named Matthew & Patrick, so James M Patrick's name really struck us. We just want to say that he and all of those who died are remembered by all of us. We hope that it brings a smile to you to know that strangers still see his name and think of his life. Peace to you all and God Bless.
