Fortuna Funeral Home - Independence Obituary

James Russel Adams, JR.

Age 76, of Brecksville, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2022.

Beloved husband of 54 years to Linda M. (nee Maruna) and dear father of Aaron.

Jim was born May 27, 1946, in Rubles Mill, Pennsylvania to the late James and Lily Adams. Brother to Sarah Bittinger, David Adams, and the late Elsie Adams, Margaret Sutton, and Dorothy Clark.

Jim earned a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from the Fenn College of Engineering and worked as a manager of production planning in Cleveland’s steel industry for over forty years.

In earlier years, Jim enjoyed taking his wife and son on adventures out west to explore the national parks. One of his favorite places was Grand Teton National Park where we would camp and hike mountain trails. A member of the National Speleological Society, Jim led family and friends on spelunking trips to caverns in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. While his son attended Saint Ignatius High School, Jim was the parent moderator of the cycling club and fostered friendships among a group of students and a Jesuit priest who strived to finish 200-mile marathons. After retiring, Jim enjoyed reading his books on math and physics, bird watching, and befriending neighbors’ dogs with a pocketful of treats. Appreciating the brevity of life, he cherished every moment with his loving wife and son.

In accordance with Jim’s wishes, no memorial services will be held.
