Jim Aldredge was a inspiration to every day I went to school. I would past his house on Martin Street, across from Franklin elementary school. He help me to believe, that a Black man could achieve in this society. Jim was a living example for me.

I'm sorry for your loss.

I am sorry to hear of James passing. I first met James at Kirk Elementary School in 1948. Then we went on to Edison Junior and Senior High Schools. I played with James on the Edison Varsity baseball team from 1953-1956. James was an excellent centerfielder and I enjoyed playing with him very much. He was a very special team mate.

Jim was a long-time friend and mentor. He had a knowing smile that let me know I was on the right track and a laugh that lit up the room. It was during that initial time that Jim took me under his wing for support and guidance. I consider him a model human being, and despite our fun but engaging political...
