ALEXANDER. James S. "Steve" – Of Flint, age 67, passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at his residence.



 



Funeral service will be held at 12 noon Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Chaplain Barry Ruff officiating.



 



Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.



 



In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Military Families United of Michigan or Patriot Guard Riders of Michigan.



 



Visitation 6-8 p.m. Monday and 11 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.



 



James was born on September 9, 1951 in Flint, Michigan, the son of the late James M. and Ida B. (nee Cowell) Alexander.



 



James served in the U.S. Marine Corps.



 



On March 16, 1974 he married Martha Hicks in Flint.



 



He restored classic cars in his younger days and loved to fish. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.



 



Mr. Alexander retired from GM and was a member of UAW Local #659.



 



Surviving are wife, Martha “Marti”;



 



daughter, Michele (Scott) Warren;



 



grandson, Justin Alexander;



 



brothers, Gary (Terri) Alexander, Brian Alexander and Tony (Terri) Alexander;



 



sister, Debra(Jerry) Pollins;



 



special nephew, Thomas Lilly;



many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.



 



He was preceded in death by his brother, Everett; his parents; nephew, Sergeant Joseph M. Lilly.
