Bill DeBerry Funeral Directors - Denton Obituary

James F. Allin, 89, of Corinth, Texas passed away on October 5, 2021 in Plano, Texas. He was born in Madison, Wisconsin on July 26, 1932 to James “Fred” and Irene Allin.

The family moved to South Bend, Indiana where he attended high school and played baseball. He began college at University of Wisconsin and was a member of the Chi Psi fraternity before being drafted into the Army and sent to Germany as a demolition specialist. He also played baseball there. After returning home, he enrolled in Indiana University in Bloomington where he met his future wife Bette Metzger who he was married to for 60 years before her passing in 2019.

He worked as a sales rep for Scientific Products for 32 years before retiring, after which he enjoyed volunteering at various places, most recently for 15 years at Denton Medical Center, greeting people at the front POB desk. He had a great sense of humor, enjoyed meeting people and was very athletic most of his life. Baseball was a passion.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Allin of Dallas, Texas, son, Paul Allin of Liberty Hill, Texas, two grandchildren, Kelsea Allin Castiglia (husband Gio) and Ryan Allin of Austin, Texas.  Sister, Sharon Baker and brothers, Robin Allin and Danny Allin, all of Florida, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bette Allin, his mother and father, sister, Elaine Forrer and brother, Richard Allin.

A Memorial service will be held at a later date.

Not sure what to say?

Jim was a great friend. I enjoyed our time together as volunteers for Medical City Denton. I think about him daily and will miss him until we are reunited in the after life. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this time of sorrow.
