Not sure what to say?

I met James just after Katrina and Rita hit NO. We developed together research on urban resilisience and James supervised some of my students from Paris at UNO. We co organized a conference in Paris in 2010 and James was my invitee at this occasion. I will miss his advise and vision on urban resilience as well as our discussions and friendship. RIP James Damien Serre

I'm so sad to read James left. We collaborated on urban resilience theme since Katrina and Rita hit NO. Some of my students came to NO under the supervision of James. We also co organized a conference in Paris where James was invited. Great time together. My condolences for his family and friends Damien Serre from Paris

James & Nancy were both from Dacatur, Ill. and so was I. We also both lived in San Francisco. Nancy gave birth to there son Alvar while they lived in S.F. I had heard about David Maddens death about a week ago. I knew David and Jimmy were related, so I did a search for. James Amdal and his obituary came up. I am so sadden to learn of his passing as well as Nancys. May they both rest in Peace. William M. Wood. POB 1983 Sunriver, OR 97707 cell# 541 815-3491

I got to know Jim as a (long-tenured) planning masters' student who stuck around a couple years after graduation in the UNO Division of Planning. He was a fount of information and ideas - as a friend and as an advisor on my graduate thesis - and his sardonic sense of humor always made me smile. He reminded me a good bit of my own dad. I'm grateful I got to know him and am so sorry to hear of his passing.

Worked with Jim on several projects. Smart, insightful, and articulate. A great loss to
New Orleans. Bless you. Andre' Neff

I worked with Jim at UNO, helping to facilitate some of the French students who came to New Orleans conduct research under his guidance. My condolences to his family and friends.

What a loss for our community. Deepest sympathies. George Schmidt and Patty Gay

James Amdal was so generous with his knowledge, experience and time. I loved hearing his stories. He will be sorely missed and he leaves a big hole in the fabric of New Orleans...
