Mr. Applegate (Apples) as many of his close golf buddies called him was always kind,generous and was never without a smile and quick wit. Not only is Applegate Chevrolet a Genesee county landmark, so to is Mr. Applegate. He will be missed.

I am so sorry for your loss. Jim was a Man I looked up to along with the likes of Woody Skaff and Phil Braun during my years growing up in Flint! He was a true gentleman and a strong Flint supporter. I worked for Jim and his company back in the 80's as a Light Repair Mechanic (#61). Jim was a wonderful man and he treated everybody with respect.
When I left the company, he offered to keep a place open for me if things didn't go as planned with my new career and he meant it.

Jim was my father, Gordon Hanes',best friend and employer for 42years. I enjoyed having lunch with he and father at The Masonic Temple all the time. He was a great man!. R.I.P
