James Asby
February 26, 1941 - October 15, 2022
Cary, North Carolina - James "Jim" Albert Asby, age 81, passed peacefully Saturday, October 15, 2022. James was born in Washington, NC on February 26, 1941 to the late Paul Leon and Helen Manning Asby. He had lived in Cary, NC since 1978 after growing up in Washington, NC, and is survived by his children Margaret Peykamian and Todd Asby and their families, of Cary and Raleigh, NC, respectively, and his brother, Michael Asby, Sr. and his family of Washington, NC. James' wife of 56 years, Lynne Kinsey Asby, preceded him in death.
After high school, James enrolled in the US Air Force and later from graduated East Carolina University. He held his first job at the age of nine and began his professional career at the National Spinning Company, working his way up the corporate ladder in manufacturing management at various companies including APV Baker and Buhler Aeroglide before reluctantly retiring at age 70. He loved working hard, gardening, travelling the world, coin collecting, history and family. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and attended all their performances and competitions. He loved people in general, most especially his friends from "little" Washington, the "Washington Boys Club", and Brendan Choice, who he remembered fondly until the end of his life. He had a great sense of humor and will be terribly missed.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to the charity of your
choosing. Paul Funeral Home of Washington, NC is assisting the Asby family.

Not sure what to say?

Jim was a such a great man! I worked with him at SouthBend in Fuquay-Varina and again at APV Baker in Goldsboro, NC. He was a great Plant Manager and loved the people. He knew everyone by name and their family. So glad I had the privilege to know Jim. Prayers and hugs to his family.

Jim was one of my favorite people in the entire world. He spent many hours at my desk telling me stories about his travels and talking with great pride about his children and grandchildren. I enjoyed every minute I was able to sit and listen to his great adventures. Maggie and Todd, you and your families are in my thoughts and prayers. Your Dad was a wonderful, kind man and I am so sorry for your loss.

I worked with Jim at APV and at Aeroglide. He was my friend and a good man. My condolences to the family.

Prayers go out to the family. I will always remember the Asby's and all the love, respect, kindness, acceptance into the Peykamian Family, laughs, talks, get togethers we shared over the years. Heaven truly has another angel.
