Dr. James Bailey

I met Jim through working at DCNR. We would talk about sailing and surfing. I didn't do either one, but it was fun to talk to him about those things. He had lots of stories of his adventures. We kept in touch after he retired. He will definitely be missed.

I have great memories of Jim. Especially of he and Barb, my wife Kathy and I spending weekends at Penn Nursery grafting Red Oak buds on seedlings for the seed orchard Jim was developing. I hope those seedings grew into trees that are producing acorns now!

Worked with Jim on Chestnuts always liked him district9. Prayers for his Family May God receive you with open arms. Bless and keep his family Lord my prayers.

I always enjoyed working with and simply talking to Jim. He truly personified the practical academician. He was a great role model and mentor for me. I just came back from a trip to Nanjing last month and can see that his advice has made it's mark there as well (so much investment in planting trees there!) So sorry to hear of his passing. He will be missed! My condolences to all who will miss him!

We spent a lot of time together just talking about my father and world war 2. We shared books and Jim´s mark on conservation and my career are etched in my mind. I had not seen him in many years but the memories are still clear. Condolences to his wife and family. Jim is and was a very special guy with an infectious character and laugh.
