Not sure what to say?

Thank you to everyone for all of your thoughts, memories and words of encouragement. We miss dad terribly and take great pride in knowing each of you shared such a special part of his life. His friends were lifelong and he would have been very humbled by all of your kind words. Thank you for your prayers and thoughts.

Dear Ballin Family - one and all.

All my best thoughts and many happy memories of Jim go out to you at this time. He was quite a guy and we are all richer for having known him.

Jane Whitfield and Family

Hello Ballin family.

My thoughts and prayers have been with you for quite some time. I'm very sorry that I cannot be at today's memorial service but am very happy to have had the chance to visit Jim at the Lake in the days prior to his passing. I am so happy that he was able to be home for his last days. I hope today can be a true celebration of his life, as I am sure that is how he would have wanted it. I'll be thinking of you all and Jim today and I look forward to seeing you all...

My thoughts and prayers are with you all, you have your own angel in heaven. Jim did a great job raising his children and has a sweet heart of a wife in Anne

I will hope that I will send a proper note to you, Anne, and the kids, but at least I will start with this. I am so sad to read of Jim's death, although I imagine it ends a lot of suffering. I still remember the year I lived with you in Eastmoreland and helped take care of your great kids while I was a studying at Reed.I drive by the house on occasion nostalgically. I remember Jim's booming laugh, his teasing, great conversations, and finally kindness. He would have dismissed that last...

Jim will be missed. I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to work along side him, learn from him, party a bit with him and see the father and husband side of him. It was an interesting mix to say the least...what a character! Thinking of him makes me smile and that's a good thing!

Not only was Jim my friend, he was an influential mentor in my career. His gruff exterior and sometimes abrupt style, belied the truly caring man inside. He was a unique and special individual, who will be missed, but not forgotten.

Anne and Family - Although I have not seen Jim for over 2 years, I have thought of him often and wondered how his retirement was going. We used to have wonderful conversations sitting outside at the KOIN tower. I am sorry that I never came up to the lake to have cocktails with you and Jim.

Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.
