Condolences to Jim's family and friends. I had the pleasure of working with Jim a few years ago when Digital Media was new. He made our work easy with great humor and know-how. He'll be missed at the UR.

Dear Jen,
Your old neighbors, Brian and Nancy are absolutely heartbroken by the news of Jim’s passing. He was such a vibrant, friendly, wonderful guy – always smiling, always there to lend a hand. It was a joy to be in his presence. Among other things, we will never forget when Jim saved our cat’s kittens after they were born in a deep, dark cranny in the attic. You and Jim were a such a lovely couple and your sons must be fine young men. We hope you take comfort in your memories of Jim...

What terribly sad news. Working with Jim was always a pleasure in the digital humanities initiatives I at UR, and I was looking forward to working with him this fall in our shared efforts to support students this fall. I know he will be missed and remembered by many at UR. All my best wishes to those he leaves behind. I always enjoyed his company, and I’m certain I’ll continue to keep an eye out for him when working in the Rettner video suite for many years to come. Rest easy, my friend.

Jim offered me friendship, he got me a job. We would talk for hours in our freezing flat in Buffalo about art, about life. Years later, when I would come to town, he was always one of the first people I would call to see if he was around. Although we never spoke that much in recent years, I always felt better knowing he was in the world, pursuing his passions, building a life, having a family. His warmth and humor will be missed. Anyone who knew him were lucky.
