Jim was a cousin of mine whom I came to know only in the past few years. I remember being in the home of our Aunt, Eva Belle Hyche, a few years ago, however, and listening to Jim tell some delightful stories of his days in the Alabama criminal courts. He had such a delightful wit and gentle spirit that I loved listening to him. Mr. Barton was a very kind man. I only worked at Johnston Barton for 6 months but during that time saw his kindness every time he came into the office. Always a smile on his face and a story to tell. I know that he will be greatly missed.
