Jim at Point Lobos
I met Jim at a writing workshop, more than 20 years ago. We remained close friends after the workshop--we lived in southern California then--and the friendship continued even after we moved away. We miss him terribly. I've set up a memorial page for him on Facebook, all friends and family welcome to post thoughts and pictures. We never met the other California friends and would love to hear from them. On Facebook, look for Jim Bartow, in Memoriam.

I remember Jim from junior high days. He was rather quiet, but I can still picture his bright smile and dry sense of humor.
I am sorry that this world has lost him, but I pray that he is in a better place.

Jim spent Thanksgiving with our family for the past several years, as he was a friend of our brother-in-law, Claudio. He was so pleasant and thoughtful, funny, intelligent. He will be missed.

Jimmy was at our home for Christmas and New Year's Eve for the past 10+ years - we will miss his sense of humor and posing for him as he took many, many pictures - although he was related by marriage (my sister Kathy is married to his brother Ken) he was "our brother" as well. He will always be a part of our family and holds a special place in our hearts.

I knew Jim for more than a decade and he was one of the best friends I ever had. I will really miss all the discussions we won't have in the future about books, movies, films, politics and so much more. Rest easy friend. We are less for your absence.
