I often said that if I had three two friends to join me on a Quiz Show demonstrating general knowledge, my brother-in-law: Jim would be my first choice.
Jim had an active and a reflective mind. His input was always poignant and his observations appreciated.
My memories of Jim invariably involve an steamy, early Hampton's morning coupled with thoughtful man on the sands casting for something meaningful.
I hope that you caught it, brother.

I was honoured that Jim was responsible, in part, for my presentation at Christ's Hospital (2007). So sad to say goodbye. I'll always remember the happy times, his wisdom and inspiration. A good friend is the medicine of life. Our heartfelt sympathy to Patrice and the Bell family.

From Whitman& Ransom to Parson & Brown to Satterlee (1986 to 2003) working with Jim was a pleasure. He was a gentleman quick to smile and generous with his wit. His office was understated, a quiet and peaceful place made joyous by the wall of pictures of his beautiful grandchildren of whom he was so proud. Jim, you were well liked and much admired by all who knew you. You are greatly missed.

Please accept my condolences for the family of a generous and outstanding man. I left before he came to Christs Hospital as a one year exchange student and only came to know him after moving to the US in recent years. His contribution to CH was exceptional and we must all be thankful for his generosity towards the continuation of the school's mission. Sincerely

I worked as Jim's secretary for 11 years, he was the best boss that I have worked for. He cared about his clients, loved his family and enjoyed his vacations. Once his Mother telephoned when Jim had gone to run an errand, I told her that he said he would be back in a half an hour but that I expected him back in an hour - she said "you've caught on to him". I will miss him.

To the Bell family - We will miss Jim. Our families go way back to Montclair, N.J. Lately, I became reacquainted with Jim at my brother, Kim's memorial service. What a wonderful guy and what a pleasure! May his memory bring you peace, Lissa Pendleton
